Manufacturing

Fayette County workers have an unparalleled work ethic. They are committed to success in their careers and to the businesses that employ them. Union activity is low here, and Indiana is a right-to-work state – conditions that allow businesses a great deal of flexibility in choosing the most highly qualified workers for their team.

With an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs, Fayette County in partnership with the Whitewater Technical Career Center prepares students well for careers in manufacturing. Many students in Fayette County graduate with hands-on experience in areas such as: welding, computer numerical control (CNC) machining, computer manufacturing, and computer aided design (CAD).

IVY Tech Community College and the Manufacturing Matters program continues to prepare area workers for a wide variety of jobs in the manufacturing and assembly of pharmaceutical containers, hospital products, data center components, auto parts and other precision assembly work.

Manufacturers in Fayette County enjoy access to markets all over the world and endless options for shipping their products. The county is conveniently located in the center of three interstate highways allowing easy access to three major airports and the second largest FedEx hub in the country. Three railroads serve the county, offering shipping by rail or intermodal transport. Together these railroads provide rail spurs to local markets and connect Fayette to international markets via the nation’s deep water ports and the Great Lakes.
