The first Small Business & Entrepreneur Connection Meeting was held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Fayette County Economic Development Center and saw a strong turnout of approximately 20 attendees. Participants included Mayor Chad Frank, Economic Development Director Brad Colter, representatives from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and Eastern Indiana Works, along with local business owners from a variety of industries.
The diverse mix of businesses led to engaging discussion and valuable input. Attendees had the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their business backgrounds, and explain what they hoped to gain from the series. The open dialogue encouraged participants to exchange ideas, offer advice, and seek guidance from one another.
Zina Bartle of the SBDC highlighted the wide range of resources available to local businesses, emphasizing her team’s willingness to meet with entrepreneurs to explore opportunities and provide support for long-term success. Wayne Williams from Eastern Indiana Works discussed workforce development initiatives aimed at preparing young adults—particularly those not pursuing college—for meaningful careers after high school.
We are very excited about the outcome of this first meeting. The Small Business & Entrepreneur Connection will meet six times per year, bringing together local business owners and entrepreneurs with valuable community resources. This series is open to all Fayette County residents and is designed to support, strengthen, and sustain small businesses while fostering meaningful connections and practical tools for success.
